Your Personal Invitation to Attend A Truly Global Multidisciplinary Comparative Conference

On behalf of the organising Scientific Committee, I take great pleasure in inviting you to participate in the 2nd International Conference on Comparative and Multidisciplinary studies in Social and Human Sciences to be held July 2-4 at the University of Greenwich in London. At its inception, this conference is driven by a consensus amongst the many participants in various conferences focused on multidisciplinary and comparative studies on the sheer paucity of outlets for academic papers that cut across disciplines and regions. In response to this, colleagues at the Literacy Research and Development Centre at the University of Greenwich, Division of Health and Well-Being at the university of Huddersfield and the Institute for Work Based Learning at the Middlesex University collaborated to identify solutions, amongst which is the launch of a new peer-reviewed journal, International Journal of Multidisciplinary Comparative studies (IJMCS). This conference is the final piece in the jigsaw puzzle and represents the ultimate culmination of the efforts to respond to the limited outlet for research outputs in multidisciplinary and comparative studies. It is conceived as an avenue to offer further opportunities for colleagues to present their research in the area and as an avenue for presenting IJMCS, to a wider audience. Our aim in this conference, therefore, is to give special emphasis to the various cross disciplinary, cross regional and comparative studies that colleagues have carried out in various locations in the world. As such, we hope to provide a forum for bringing together studies and academics from various disciplines and various regions of the world.

Our expectations in the context of providing outlets and creating a platform for a robust debate on various multidisciplinary issues were validated at last year’s conference. Colleagues who attended the conference were delighted with the ‘smallish’ number of presentations which enabled colleagues to better engage with the presentations, as a lot more time was devoted to discussions and indeed, progressing some of the ideas contained in different presentations. We intend to continue with this strategy this year. As such, we are limiting presentations at this conference to 60 and selection will be on a first come first served basis.

This 2nd conference will also be held at the historic Maritime Campus of the University of Greenwich which is in close proximity to excellent hotel facilities as well as access to historic places such as the Maritime Museum, the GMT and the famous O2 Arena in Greenwich. I am particularly excited about the opportunity the campus provides in terms of conveniently locating participants in the same area and, therefore, offering the chance for colleagues to interact with each other and the lovely environment during the entire conference. Finally, I would like to thank all colleagues who have already confirmed their attendance and those who have helped to disseminate the call to attend this conference. I assure you that Greenwich is a delightful area of London with many tourist attractions which you should  certainly enjoy and I look forward to meeting you all at the conference.
